My love affair with horses began when I was 3, watching the pony across the street from out Granny's window. By the age of 4, I was riding my sister on my back and eating grass (no really I did). So when I got my first box of crayons it was only natural that my subjects were horses since that was all I thought about anyway, and admittedly, my digestion improved as well.
Seriously, been at it now for 40 years. Can draw from memory too. I've worked on horse farms, groomed hundreds, know their muscle structures, tendons, hairlines, textures, what pellets and sweet feed taste like...
I've learned some photography to improve my artwork, you'll probably find me at horse shows, races, polo events, etc with camera in hand. So taking photos of your steed is no problem, just add sunshine.
Horses, I'll always love their grace, their smell, the leather tack, the softness of their coats, the gentle morning nickers, the "hey she's back" from the smiling hospital staff...
I would like to try drawing rock stars, so if you are one, I'll throw it in for free.
Ok, so the buffalo was unexpected. I've also done several cattle. I said hoofs, right ? Did a commission once in trade for hay from my local Longhorn farmer. Nice animals, beautiful coats, cute calves, lovely with cracked pepper and a baked potato.
